A HEALTHY HUMAN FRAME
Chiropractic Care, Physical Therapy and Posture Correction
Your body is functioning exactly as it is currently designed. To change the function of your body, you must change the design.
Thomas Edison said, "The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in diet, exercise and care of the human frame." At Fairmount Family Integrative Medicine our staff excels in caring for the human frame by offering Chiropractic care, Physical Therapy and Posture Correction.
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a specialty health field that focuses on the body's posture, spine, and nervous system. The brain controls the function of the body by sending millions of instructions through the spinal cord and nerves to every tissue and organ. Your Posture and your spine's alignment affect the function of this vital informational pathway.
Poor posture and improper motion and/or position of the spine, can stretch and irritate the spinal cord and nerves and can overload your spine, compromising the healthy functioning of the nerve system and consequently the health of the entire body. Chiropractic care corrects these imbalances and removes unhealthy stress from your spine and nervous system, greatly improving the communication between the mind and body, and allowing the body to express its health. A structurally sound body is more resistant to stress and is able to function at its truest potential.
Good posture... It's more than just standing up straight
Doctors of Chiropractic are primary healthcare providers trained to diagnose specific diseases and ailments of the body, just as traditional physicians do. Chiropractic care has been shown to be effective in treating a myriad of conditions, such as neck, back, shoulder, arm, and leg pain, disc problems, headaches, depression, ADHD, dizziness, hypertension, anxiety, and many other conditions. However, the goal of chiropractic care is to improve the overall structure and function of the human form in order to promote its self-healing capabilities. Improved posture can be life changing. It typically manifests itself in improved health of the whole body.
Chiropractic: Its safety and your children
Chiropractic has an extremely safe track record. Research has shown chiropractic care to be safer than most medical procedures, treatment options, and medications. It is interesting to note that in an era of elevating malpractice insurance, chiropractic malpractice rates remain among the lowest in all of healthcare.
In addition, as more parents become dissatisfied with the current health care system, they find chiropractic care to be a safe, effective, and natural treatment option for many children's ailments. Helping our children to "grow up straight" with good posture increases their ability to be healthy and also helps them to avoid many of the problems our adult population now suffers from.
Chiropractic has been shown to be very effective with children who suffer from a myriad of childhood ailments, such as; colic, asthma, ear infections, attention deficit disorder and scoliosis, to name a few. Dr. Garret works to correct your child's spinal misalignments and poor posture before the onset of symptoms and to prevent new ones from developing.
Chiropractors often encounter patients who appreciate the importance of regular check ups for their children's teeth, hearing, eyes and ears. A child's spine and posture are also very important. Their spine is their lifeline because running through it is their spinal cord, which is the communication link between their developing brain and body. As children struggle to master the art of walking, they tend to fall and stumble. Sometimes these falls can injure their delicate spine and cause their posture to grow crooked. Older children who are active in sports and other activities as well as those who carry heavy backpacks can also injure a their spine and posture. Have your children checked today, to see if they can benefit from Chiropractic care.
Posture affects and moderates every physiological function—from breathing to hormonal production. Spinal pain, headaches, mood, blood pressure and pulse are among the functions most easily influenced by posture. Poor posture places extra stress and tension on the body's muscles, bones, ligaments, joints, and nerves. This increased stress can lead to any number of disease states, causing a variety of symptoms. For many who have suffered from unresolved neck and back pain, headaches and many other conditions, posture correction provides the missing ingredient. "Postural corrective care" incorporates spinal manipulative therapies, postural exercises, and other therapies to restore normal posture allowing the body to function better. Dr. Garret Hauptman is one of a handful of doctors that specializes in posture correction. This type of chiropractic posture correction is at the forefront of chiropractic and health research. In the pictures below, you can see an example of patients with improved posture from our postural corrective care.
Posture and Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a condition of the spine that is found in approximately 5-10 % of our children. When left uncorrected, scoliosis can lead to significant health issues, such as; severe back pain, headaches, emotional issues, spinal degeneration, and in more severe cases lung disorders. Early detection and then correction is key to keeping scoliosis under control and preventing those conditions from developing. There are very few clinically proven treatment modalities that can permanently correct scoliosis. Our Posture Rehabilitation is one of the few techniques that has been shown to constantly rehabilitate and correct these scoliosis deformities.
